We have a New Year’s tradition at my house… We don’t go out on New Years Eve. As I get older, I often skip the midnight thing and just wake up to a new year in the morning. Last year that tradition was interrupted when a drunk drove through the neighbor’s fence at 2:00 AM.
Be safe and have a happy New Year!

For Christmas, my sister, Cheryl, gave me the book Christmas Sweater by author Glenn Beck. I just finished reading it. I rarely read a book from cover to cover in one sitting; this book was an exception.
This masterfully written book draws one into a surprising emotional roller coaster ride that causes you to examine your inner life, core values, thoughts and feelings at the most basic level while all the time being thoroughly entertained. I don’t think it is possible to read the book and not come away a better person for the reading.
I highly recommend the book. It would make an excellent Christmas gift for yourself or anyone on your gift list. Thank you Cheryl for knowing that. I really love this present and I love you.

Today on NPR radio the talking heads were discussing whether Obama made the right choice of ministers to say the invocation when he is inaugurated. The problem, as they see it, is the reverend hasn’t been too reverent, politically correct, gentile or tactful- when speaking about gays.
“Should the reverend apologize?” they wondered. “Would that be enough of a concession or should Obama choose a different person to pray?” As the conversation continued, I was pleased to learn that Obama doesn’t believe in gay marriage… I’m warming up to the man.
As for the gay issue, pray on reverend. 99% of the nation is with you. I’m appalled that anyone would dare suggest how a preacher should preach his sermon or worse yet how anyone should pray to their God.
Politically correct is only correct if it is morally correct. We shouldn’t be censored, gagged and harassed just because we state or have stated our moral beliefs.
